will my 600 be able to keep up, I have never ridden in a group! As Dunc says, it doesnt matter what pace you ride at, we operate a tried and tested method of marking junctions, until everyone has gone by. People even stop to take pictures, have a fag, pee etc We even had a 125 with us on a recent run, and even a Guzzi ;D Come along, you won't regret it Dave

.....and will my 600 be able to keep up, I have never ridden in a group! If Dunc's making an appearance you'll not be the slowest by a long chalk, just keep an eye out for buses ;D Indeed, embarrassed away from the lights by middle aged cyclists with shopping baskets on their bikes. Overtaken by mobility scooters. Yet to find 3rd gear never mind 5th. Wobbling to a halt at every opportunity (the bike wobbling too) I even missed seeing a bus. In fairness it crept up on me. But I've never parked it in a ditch while C**k waving in front of the media.

I may well make an appearance without taking part in the festivities. Avoiding a drunken brawl with Wullie ? ;D we wouldn't demean ourselves.....besides, that's one "debate" i might lose (for once). ;D ;D ;D

Thinking of going to this, but I have a few questions I was thinking of staying with friends whom live about 60miles north of Edinburgh and traveling on the day, would this be OK, or do you have to stay in Aviemore, and will my 600 be able to keep up, I have never ridden in a group! Where do they live ? It's better to take part in the social side too but I may well make an appearance without taking part in the festivities. You will not be left behind, everyone rides at their own pace and we have a marker system so that you can't get lost. they live in Dollar,

I live about 40 minutes East of there. As I said I might ride up for a day trip if I can but won't know until the day. But it's do-able.

Usually it's about 10am but since I'm not going on the runs (nae BIKE) I don't really know exactly where/when they start. Clearly this confusion is a case for MORE sub-threads relating to JR11! Last year I think we managed 14 ;D, covering such gems as run details, weather, real ale in Moffat, friday night bonus run, Moffat diners, how to get to Moffat etc. etc... You're keeping it very low profile Gordy; don't listen to the critics .

I sure am in Aviemore ;D Had a ball doing the runs, I'm impressed myself this year, that's all I'm saying until final tweeks get done after I get home tomorrow. One word of advice, this is mountainous Scotland, so don't expect Starbucks & MacDonalds on every corner. Soft southerners bring muesli bars, nearly northerners bring dried ferrets, and my squad the usual Mars bars

Soft southerners bring muesli bars, nearly northerners bring dried ferrets, and my squad the usual Mars bars You mean you have failed miserably on finding some burger vans ? Didn't see any at all, but we did dine out at La Taverna last night and the good news is the prices are the same as last year. Mags had the buffet, (not all of it) while I made do with a swordfish steak. We're just back from the trip north and the final routes will be on line soon. No major changes. Any one who wants to get up close and personal with a Tornado will be better to do it at the lunch stop at Lossiemouth. The gate guardian is well inside the security barriers and I went up to the gatehouse to inquire about a photo op. It would have to be through official channels and tbh I think it would be too much hassle. It would take 5 mins from the lunch stop to get there so if anybody is dead keen then they will have time to go see it. If, on the day of the run it's anything like when we were there, plenty of low level overflying of the town was going on. The Nimrod and Buccaneer viewing will be good and the fuel price at the Buccaneer was very low for the North ;D You can relax re food stops on the Mountain run (Sunday) We found a nice place today. It is early on the run, but as I said before this is very rural Scotland. If we don't dawdle we should make it to a good afternoon stop too. (No details, it's a secret!)

Have the spaghetti with meatballs then sit opposite Beebs. When you get back from the loo all the meatballs will be gone. Who is this Beebs He is the master of all who beeble, and will be happy to accept a drink off you, which is a compulsory induction procedure for newbies. I don't know what that Mac fella keeps harping on about though. I'm absolutely not guilty of any meatball pilfery, I have no knowledge or explanation of how his meatballs ended up entangled in my cutlery.

Proposed arrangements for Friday evening. A soiree in the Cairngorm Hotel Aviemore at 8pm. www.cairngorm.com/It's opposite the station. Last week we tried a few restaurants. The chippy is very good, opposite Tesco's. Further along the road, on the same side is the Skiing Doo, very good burgers, avoid the fish and chips (rip off). In the station buildings is the Roos Leap, burgers, chilli etc, good quality. If you want up-market there's International Starters, www.internationalstarters.co.uk/ tapas style, very good quality. The local brewery products are excellent
