Mine has recently started doing a strange click. The head bearings are new - guess where I'm looking first. Thanks for the tip.

this thread should be a sticky on here as it has now covered every angle on the front end noise wise .... cd the thing in the pic still moves when spring is bent back but is then spring loaded and not moving around like it was. it would move up or down by simply tipping the tube but now it doesnt .. hope this helps . i can now go over grids etc without the dreaded click ... i also rang loads of dealers and spoke with lads in the workshops as well as the parts guys and they didnt even know what i was talking about ?? they said there was nothing in the bottom of the forks even after i had told them i had seen it ?? kind of make me wanna do all the work on my bikes myself at least i will be thorough and actually learn about stuff ... are all dealers the same i ask myself ? they are supposed to be the experts eh...........

Some things never turn up in the dealer's workshops so they might have never stripped a Divvie 900 fork leg. Simply changing the fork oil is way less complicated.

If the action goes knotchy it needs new steering bearings.

mine was the wave washers mate , i re boinged them lol but they are now flat again .next oil change i will have em out and measure them only problem is i dont know the exact spring rate they need to be so will have a guess .not a sports bike at full lean all the time so as long as the noise is gone with new washers its all good..

The D9 is however a heavy bike on average size forks. Its no sports bike but it can hustle and that will soon show up the fork bushes.

Hi all
Just wondered if you ever had or resolved this? my D9 started making a noise like a stone or twig in the mudguard on a club ride 6 weeks ago. When we stopped for a break I had a good look around and couldn't see anything. Thought about cutting the ride short as it was quite loud but then 1 mile after we started again it just stopped! Then it has come on intermittently during various rides. sounded just like loose mudguard, clip etc I have checked:-
All cables, pipes, lips fittings removed front and rear pads, cleaned, copper slipped replaced removed speed cable and lightly greased. Just replaced all the brake lines with braided hoses, ( not due to the noise, just felt like doing it)! Checked rear hugger not touching tyre checked both stands pumped forks up and down -no noise when do this. CHECKED LOOSE, CRACKED BROKEN DISCS all FINE
Noise is getting worse and louder and starting to get alarming as quite metallic but still comes and goes!
it is metallic and like a stick or stone in the mudguard or the noise you get from a car when a chipping gets lodged near the brake disc! It seems to be rotation related and seems to come from the front? there is no effect on the handling, braking or performance when it comes.
Today having done a final brake bleed from fitting the new hoses I took it out for good test ride. After firm testing of the brakes from high speed the noise came on alarming enough for me to pull over. couldn't see any reason for it while stopped. pulled off again and after few yards it stopped again. Then rode about 10 miles including some fast 60mph roads. 5 minutes from home at steady speed of 30mph on a level road, it suddenly came on again, definitely seemed wheel rotation related, I eased off accelerator and rolled gently to stop and it cleared again then fine rest of way home.
My concern is that it is getting louder when it appears .
my divvy is 1999, 76000 miles owned and maintained by myself since 2002
All suggestions or experience gratefully accepted!

Hi all Just wondered if you ever had or resolved this? He did - read back through this thread for his findings. May well not be your issue though .

I had a clicking noise from the rear of my MT-03, speed-related and more obvious at lower speeds. Turned out to be a wheel bearing cracking up.
There was no play, but with the wheel out it was obvious when you treid to turn the inner race. Worth checking, and not an expensive fix - unless it's left until the point where the bearing seizes completely and turns in the housing, chewing it up.

Probably a bit late but the speedo drive in the front wheel makes exactly that sort of noise when its become worn, sometimes regreasing will sort it if the splines aren't too bad. Oops already mentioned!
