Just been working on my XJ600, had a problem with a seized nut that would not budge. A plumber mate had told me of a product that freezes and lubricates with WD40, the said item and will help release it. Well I am well impressed. Sprayed the nut very lightly but for a 45 seconds. Left it for a 2 minutes and it worked. www.screwfix.com/p/crack-it-freeze-release-spray-400ml/98823Regards Andy

Good idea! Hey, I might still have some plumbers pipe freeze spray in the garage.

Yeah that crack-it spray is quite effective. For nuts that are really badly seized you can make it more effective by heating them up with the blowtorch first then spraying it right on ( it may catch fire and WILL smoke like crazy ) the huge thermal shock can crack things loose even when really badly rusted.

Just make sure you turn your blowtorch off before you start spraying though, or things could get very interesting indeed

A good impact wrench is also very handy for seized nuts. Clarke do a wrench & twin battery set for about £100 that is very good.

PLUS GAZ--- works every time as long as you give it the soaking time it requires.

When all else fails, my fave method is to run a little arc weld onto the nut or bolt putting concentrated heat directly into the offending part. The fastener will be scrap but comes off easily and you wont want to keep it anyway.
