Come along to the first official run of the year - The January Jolly, 2011 . Sunday 2nd January 2011. Scrape off the conjealed Christmas pud & blow off the Christmas cobwebs & join me for a leisurely bimble around the A & B roads of south Oxfordshire & Wiltshire. Meeting here: Leaving H Cafe at 10:30. Arrive in good time if you want a hearty warming breakfast . Postcode = OX10 7LY Find it here: maps.google.co.uk/maps/place?cid=1688495050369554516&q=mps+express&hl=en&cd=1&cad=src:pplink&ei=ieadTNrEGMjNjAfbpKH1CQArrive in good time if you want a breakfast, to be ready to set off at 10:30am. The run will be approx 95 miles, with the requisite loo stops & a nice warm lunch stop . Finishing at The Volunteer Inn near Wantage for 3:30 to 4:00pm: The Volunteer Inn Station Road, Grove, OX12 0DH ..... or if numbers permit, at my place for hot coffee & bourbons ! Not the same route as last year, can't say the same for the weather prospects . Please post below if you intend to turn up. If more than a handful I'll create a sign-up sheet .

not sure I can afford to write another bike off in oxford ( insurance company might smell a rat ) ;D 2x oxford runs both resulted in bikes being written off .

Myself and Mrs M on the back would like to take part - it seems rude not to when it's on our doorstep!

The last time I saw biker dave, he was being taken out by a low flying bandit. It wasn't the Bandit that was the fall of Biker Dave...it was the tank bag that hadn't been strapped on that came off the Bandit like a spinning UFO with a suicide wish! ;D We may attend, but if its as bad as it was the last time we came, with regards to icy roads (-9 degrees), then we won't be taking the risk I'm afraid. Although, if Billy is going in the Volvo we may have to show him what a real car looks like and turn up in my lovely motor! ;D ;D

I stand corrected JJ. I also agree about the weather in January, I won't venture out on the bike when there is ice about, so if you bring the Hyundai, I'll bring the Skoda!

Reccied half of the run today. A nice run in the conditions prevailing - though my satnav power & heated grips failed so it's a good job it wasn't as cold today as on last year's outing . Might have to change one of the stops though, it was a bit 'gluey' on the old tyres :

A bit more of the route completed today. A bit more discarded from the route, as it was icy under rubber & I don't want any trouble with the D9 brigade . (Even the lightweight Fazer600 had trouble staying upright . ....... was kind of expecting some fresh salt would have been strewn by now . A few flakes of snow fell, so naturally I hurried off to the new Hein Gericke shop just west of Oxford for a look-see & warm-up. Rather small . No coffee, no loos, so not a good meeting place either. No competition for MPS with the H cafe nextdoor.

... been barred from H's cafe then ? Or have they taken the veggie friendly options off the menu ? OR god forbid it aint closed down again has it Was there today - it was open & I was welcome . Volunteer is cheaper & closer to the roads I have planned on the run [1]. [1] The fact that it's closer to my house, in case no one turns up, is quite immaterial .

You lot can't get further than the corner shop, half your country is hiding indoors with the heating on full blast, Heathrow is a ghost town and you're planning another bike run.
Are you mad ? Most of you can't get the 4x4 off the drive.
